Açalya Itır Aydın

Founder, Independent Education Consultant

As the founder of Itır Aydın Higher Education Consultancy, I have devoted my career to demystifying a college‑admissions landscape that can appear overwhelming to even the most capable students. With more than three thousand accredited institutions in the United States alone—each with its own policies, priorities, and personality—applicants often struggle to isolate the handful of campuses where they will genuinely thrive. My work transforms that uncertainty into a purposeful, confidence‑building journey, guiding students from first self‑assessment to final enrollment with clarity and momentum.

Years spent walking quads, speaking with admission deans, and observing classrooms have allowed me to visit more than 180 campuses across the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, the Netherlands, and Spain. Those visits give me more than brochure knowledge: they reveal a school’s ethos, the tenor of its academic life, and whether a seemingly perfect program on paper truly delivers for students in practice. Drawing on this firsthand insight, I build balanced lists that honor each applicant’s academic strengths, extracurricular passions, and financial realities—often introducing lesser‑known institutions whose offerings eclipse those of marquee names.

Professional rigor underpins every recommendation I make. Active memberships in the Independent Educational Consultants Association, the Higher Education Consultants Association, the International Association for College Admission Counseling, and The Association of Boarding Schools bind me to a strict code of ethics. These affiliations require at least three years of field experience, dozens of campus visits, extensive client service, and ongoing professional development—standards that ensure my counsel remains informed, impartial, and current with evolving test‑optional policies, scholarship initiatives, and global recruitment trends.

The advising process begins with a discovery conversation in which we clarify academic goals and personal aspirations. From there, I craft a tailored strategy that assigns milestones to every component—testing timelines, essay drafts, recommendation requests, and interview preparation—so that no task threatens to derail the larger objective. By the time the first application is submitted, students possess not only polished materials but also a clear understanding of how each element articulates who they are and what they hope to contribute to a campus community. When acceptance letters and financial packages arrive, I help families weigh competing options with an analyst’s eye and a mentor’s heart, ensuring that the final decision aligns with both ambition and well‑being.

Beyond my professional life, I am an avid skier, swimmer, and sailor—pursuits that mirror the resilience and curiosity I encourage in the students I mentor. A longstanding interest in child and adolescent psychology keeps me attuned to the developmental hurdles that accompany the transition from secondary school to university; that awareness shapes the guidance I offer and the empathy I bring to each consultation. Ultimately, my goal is to empower young people to embrace the next chapter of their education with enthusiasm, self‑knowledge, and a refined sense of possibility. If you—or someone you care about—would benefit from this structured, personalized approach to college admissions, I invite you to begin the conversation and take the first step toward a confident, well‑informed choice about the future.
